End of life vehicles

Every year, in the E.U., 8 to 9 million tons of waste is produced from the end of life vehicles (ELV). The 25% of that quantity is considered hazardous waste.

In Greece, VAMG (Vehicles Alternative Management of Greece) was instituted to be a collective system for the organization of the end of life vehicles alternative management. VAMG is responsible for the organization and the operation control of the ELV collection, treatment and recycle.

Due to the fact that the vehicles contain hazardous wastes, such as lead, cadmium, chrome, mercury, Freon, etc., the consequences of wrong vehicle recycling are inextricably linked to the damage coming from these kind of waste. Thus, the ELV recycling is of vital importance for the environmental safety.
